Our Story
Following God's Call
Grace Commons Church began with a simple question: "What is God going to do next?"
In the fall of 2022 Pastor Peter and his wife Esther were deep in prayer, seeking the Lord's direction for a new phase of ministry. Together, they sensed the call to step out in faith and plant a new church in Southern Indiana.
This was quite surprising, since neither of them had previously felt called to (or even prepared for!) the ministry of church planting. But God had given them a vision for a church which was committed to reaching people in the community with the love of Jesus Christ.
God quickly affirmed the call and began providing everything needed to make this vision a reality. On March 5th, 2023 a group of nearly forty people gathered for the first worship service of Grace Commons Church.
Each week the church continues to gather for worship and fellowship at Silver Heights Camp and Retreat Center, a thriving camping ministry located in historic Silver Hills, New Albany.
A Gospel of Hope
The gospel really is good news. And if we're being honest, couldn't we all use more good news in our lives?
Grace Commons Church is a community of people who have been transformed by the hope of the gospel and are on fire with the love of Jesus.
We know that because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus every person is invited into this hope. God invites everyone to come and be made new; to receive forgiveness, healing, and wholeness.
The grace of God gives us the hope of eternal life. But we are not content to keep this hope to ourselves. We are called to share the good news with everyone!
To that end, we live as people whose hope is in Jesus. We gather each week for worship and fellowship. We meet together in community groups to build one another up in love. And we go out to serve our local community in the same way Jesus served us.
A New Day Begins
We have only just begun! As a new church, we are excited to see what God is going to do next. Every day we rely on the Holy Spirit to lead the way.
